Introduction
This is one of our three discipleship programs
Paul and Timothy Discipleship
Sow and Reap Discipleship
Football and Fellowship Discipleship
It is just one of our many expressions as to how we do what we do practically.
What is this discipleship program?
Since our inception, Wildfire has had the focus of what we have coined ‘the Sow and Reap Discipleship Course. ’
We recognise that within God’s kingdom there are those who sow and those who reap, we as an organisation recognise this great Biblical equation to advancing God's kingdom, placing ourselves within the reap team of this amazing truth. We have a focus of working alongside churches, communities and other organisations who, like us, desire to see God’s kingdom multiply.
Insert any of the above:
Churches: Churches have their youths. For those who do, they have sown their methods, taught their plans and organised their youth nights; they have sown the youth and planted the seed.
- Add Wildfire to the equation
Wildfire will come and assist the youth for a month or more, depending on how the spirit leads, helping to reap that which has been sown.
Communities: Communities have youths. For those who do, they too have sown a seed through various methods; they have sown a young community and planted the seed.
- Add Wildfire to the equation
Wildfire will come and assist the youth for a month or more, depending on how the spirit leads, helping to reap that which has been sown.
Other organisation: This includes any ministry group or organisation that has their particular focus and their particular mission; they have sown and planted a seed. We desire to champion what they do by assisting them, however, we want to focus on discipling in these environments, igniting both women of God into a position of strength in their faith.
-Add Wildfire to the equation
Wildfire will come and assist the youth for a month or more, depending on how the spirit leads, helping to reap that which has been sown.
ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM THROUGH REAPING
Why do we use this expression of discipleship?
1.In our mission statement we make it clear that one of our four objectives, of what we as an organisation want to accomplish is creating a network of unity. We have forgotten unity, we have forgotten its importance, within Wildfire we take seriously what Jesus said: “Be one just as me and the father are one.” We want to unify churches, communities and people under God’s love.
With the above in mind, we want to work with different communities, churches and organisations to create that unity through advancing God’s kingdom together.
2. In God’s word it is clear we have all been given the high honour from our king, to advance his kingdom, we have all been given the loving mission to make him known from our father. (Matthew 28, Matthew 5, Acts 17)
The equation given to us to accomplish this mission can be dichotomised into two roles, those who sow and those who reap.
3. In John 4, with Jesus’ interaction with the women at the well, Jesus said, “For in this, the saying is true, one sows and another reaps. I sent you to reap that for which you have not laboured; others have laboured and you have entered into their labour.”
/Or we see a descriptive example of this between Apollos and Paul in 1 Corinthians 3: 5-8, when Paul plants and Apollos watered.
/Throughout the Bible the principle of reaping what you sow is repeated time and time again, we all must be focused on what we plant and sow as this will inevitably result in what we reap and the reward that we get. As an organisation we want to come and help that reaping process, rewarding churches, communities and organisations for what they have prayerfully and earnestly sown.
ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM THROUGH REAPING
How do we use this expression of discipleship?
So you get what we do and you get why we do it, but the most important and remaining question is how do we do it?
1. The time period/ our team will plant ourselves where you are/ At minimum this will be a month, however, may be more, depending on the circumstances and how they unfold.
2. You come to us/ We will invite your youth to our centre and the events that we hold there every two months. Here your young people will have fellowship with other young people, whilst engaging in Biblical, social and cultural issues; whilst having fun! This is not an add on and we make having fun an intentional and integral part of our events.
3. Mentorship/ We will make our mentors available for your young people. Through our mentors they can engage in our Paul and Timothy discipleship Program.
4. We come to you/ We will hold various connection nights and events at the place where you are at; leading, teaching and discipling young people through these events in your locality.
5. Leaving the cogs turning/ We will help assist your leaders, giving them events, resources and ideas as to how they can sustain the work that has been progressed, however, we hope and pray that the young people by the end of our time there will be ignited in their relationship with God.
